Bits and Pieces

A week of part finished things...

My new smart phone is still awaiting delivery of a micro SD card to beef up its storage. Meanwhile have bought a couple of cheap desk lamps to help with the lighting issues in my room. The image quality really needs to be improved.

Three new pieces started but one is still drying out because I didn't wipe off enough water from the mod rock strips. Here's the bare bones of the first one. Odd how the upper half looks out of proportion at this stage, then I added on some leg mass and the legs now look a bit too long...

I'm also re-doing the red one arm handstand in pulp, but it seems to be turning out a size 2. Bit annoying as I only had one size 2 armature pre-made and wasn't going to do more as hands are a challenge at that scale. Anyway, the polymer clay one has cracked at the wrist again (it's a bit heavy to be balanced like that), aand then I knocked it off the table. And broke its arm. Oops. That's why I don't use polymer clay anymore - it's super solid except for limbs and fingers.

Quite a few tweaks and additions still to do on the website. That's going to be a big chunk of time as Wix can be kinda slow in editor mode and my patience gives out eventually...

Been looking at packaging possibilities but the bulk buying and postage costs are a lot for my part time income. Besides, I don't expect to need loads so will buy locally from Rymans or whatever, when I can see what they usually have in stock. That's for the weekend now.

My intended Twitter account is part set up but not yet live. So much to learn about this thing. It's not hard but getting the hang of all the how-to and why of it has meant clicking on loads of categories in the help section just to get the gist of it all. And working out how to squeeze balancepointsculpture into the 15 character limit...

And when I have some spare minutes, I have three books on the go: Tools of Titans by Tim Ferris (recently started listening to various podcasts while I work), Joanna Penn's How to Write Non-Fiction (always loved writing and had a notion of doing a book some day...), and Insane Mode by Hamish McKenzie which tells the Tesla story.

Weird to find I now have a small amount of pretty random knowledge of rocket launches, electric cars and Artificial Intelligence. That's a result of watching the Space X Falcon Heavy test flight in February. Take your inspiration where you find it! If you want to see real job satisfaction and need a mood boost, I highly recommend trying to catch National Geographic's 'Inside Space X' documentary on YouTube or Space X's own 'The Falcon Has Landed' which shows the first time they landed a first stage booster back at the launch area. Just incredibly exciting, no matter how many times I watch it!
