Christmas market

A nice bit to start off this week's post. Shout out to my boss Rachel Maritz (IG @rachelmaritzart) and husb Waynne who have a stand at the Christmas market at Tilgate Park in Crawley, West Sussex. Rachel's wonderful abstracts and Waynne's designs in wood are all on show.

Have seen some pictures and it's a terrific display. Waynne has these so stylish tealight holders and clocks which come with abstract colour accents, courtesy of Rachel. These work beautifully together. The colours mixed with the grain of different woods are really striking. Even the patisserie rolling pins come in beautiful handmade wooden boxes!

Shopify Hell - again

So, back to attempt 2,426 to get this thing going. 'Buy button' code only lets me load one product. I have to set up a collection to show all prints. Search help page for instructions. Set it up. Embed code on site and realise it's not a 'buy button' but a whole image with price and buy button, so delete the images I had before. Fine.

Then spend ages dragging arrows to get the whole image-text block to show then work out how to have images sit horizontally instead of in one long column. Manage this by accident but the code hasn't loaded image descriptions and I can't see any way to add it in so I have to drag my own text boxes to match the image placements. Good job I didn't delete those.

Check the mobile view - disaster - so spend ages getting it the best I can. Can't put text next to the images; it all has to go below both of them. That's going to be a mess when I have more.

Check my shipping info. It doesn't show Creative Hub/Print Space as the address products are mailed from. Looks like I have to set up fulfilment. Shopify's idea of how that works is opposite to how CH/PS say they work. Have to email them again - what am I meant to be doing with this?? So many aspects of are just not clearly explained by either party.

Started this at 8am. It's now 11:20am. I think completion of the app may not happen today as I have to leave for work soon...

But...

I have finished an initial draft of my first book and progress is moving along on three others so all is not lost on the taking action front. Writing and sculpting is so easy compared to messing around with '2-clicks and you're ready to sell' apps. Grrr.
