Back to work

No blog last week. Don't even ask why since I can't remember what I was doing instead. I think the morning just got away from me. Office time however, is getting back to normal so I've had a couple of extra days out this week. I even went to the local town at the weekend to pick up some supplies. Haven't been there for couple of months. There were women wrapping bench legs in brightly coloured wool and tinsel all down the pedestrian area. The benches now appear to have camel feet. It's all good fun and it'd be nice to see more colour in our streets for more of the year (or at least through the winter months).

Had a visit to the Corner Gallery too. Jackie, the owner was doing ten things at once as usual, including shifting the paintings around to accommodate new work and highlight collections. I love the smaller galleries as the products change around all the time and you never know what you'll find. I ended up buying a small ceramic cup in soft violet with an orange rim. It has very satisfying curves, the handle is the perfect shape (some handles are really awkward to get your fingers round) and there's a lovely little swirl of clay in the bottom. My excuse was that sometimes in the evening I fancy a coffee but don't want a whole mug of it, but this size is okay to have a little extra drink.

I'm super happy as two of my pieces have now sold. The aqua water spirit and the flamey cat leap which was set aside to be collected that day. I've picked out a few new pieces to replace them and I'll see which ones Jackie likes. If I can get the ones I'm working on right now all done, they can go in the options box too.

Finally got to finishing the hands on one of my leaps. Just put a coat of white on it so it's easier to spot areas that need a bit of filling or smoothing and tied her to the hoop to get an idea of the correct angle. That's going to be so much fun when I do it with invisible thread - tricky to handle at the best of times.

Will coat the hoop with paper since the brass coloured coating can chip off if it gets banged and thinking to do a really simple white and gold colour mix with maybe a random splash of red somewhere. Haven't done the hair yet so maybe a bun with a red scrunchie? Title just has to be Jumping through Hoops.

Alright, so back to it. Can't believe how much the change in hours impacted my productivity. All the stop and start mornings with only a bit of evening work time are really inhibiting, especially with the writing. A lot of writing is actually thinking time or reading a part over and over to find the words or tone you want and time pressure makes me very scatter brained and unable to concentrate cos the clock is ticking. My long piece is now on its fourth (?) iteration. Just accepting it'll be as long as it needs to be instead of squashing it into a word count that's only in my head. I can write as much as I want so as long as each paragraph is to the point, the number of words isn't a big deal.
