Early Winter break!

Short week at work since tomorrow am headed to Devon again for a few days. Was meant to go mid October but...things happened. Need to get away from office life for a bit. Being there every day - even if not a full day - is not something I want to be doing again but it's how it has to be for a while. Good start to this morning is finding my train to Exeter is cancelled but I can (so far) take the next one with an extra change. No big deal. I enjoy train travel so long as the quiet carriage is actually quiet!

Finally made a start on the rock piece. The main colour has gone a bit matt so I'll add some darker black streaks and be sure to do just a bit of varnish in parts to lift it a bit. Just tested some strata colours this morning and it's drying out now along with the debris pile on the base. I need to seal off the edges which I appear to have added using plaster - not even sure what it's all made of. It was started so long ago I can't remember what the plan was in using that.

Naturally, having now painted it, there are parts that now look a bit odd. Does that mean I have to go round it with a craft knife and trim some areas? Probably. Now I've seen it, I can't unsee it but it'll have to wait until next week now. It also needs thumbs adding...why are they missing? On the opposite extreme, autumn gal is still annoying skinny though I keep adding layers to her.

I haven't yet packed for the trip, there's some admin needed at home and I need to drop off the bike for a bit of service after work today. On order is a pair of dazzle reducing glasses. Yes, it's that time of year for us all to be blinded by retina searing vehicle headlights. These have a yellow tint and are meant to calm things down a bit so we'll see how it goes. Night cycling never used to be so dangerous until overly bright lights appeared on everything that moves.

There are no plans for the next few days. Looks set to be pretty cold with sunny spells but little chance of rain so...no, I don't know. Will decide when I get there. The evenings will be in the BnB doing some writing. I was lucky to find something at this point in the season. Virtually everything has shut down now but so long as I get some sea air and lots of thinking time (more than on my last visit), then it's all fine. It'll also be good to visit in total off season/not great weather and see how I feel about it. I still want to relocate but the momentum just isn't there at the moment but then again, neither are the rooms!

Feel like I really need to get my head sorted and make some firm decisions. There's been a lot of 'doing' this year but it hasn't produced much destination. It's a sequence that repeats because I'm still not clear about where life is going yet. Too many things going on in my head to focus on just one area but if there were four of me, that might work. One for art, one for writing type things, one to retrain in a useful field of work and another to take huge risks and do...who knows what. I feel as unsettled as the times we're living in.
