Paint, posing and pictures

This is all taking too long. I'm not patient by nature so while the actual sculpting is relatively painless (unless I get an armature wrong), the 'clothing' and styling drives me mad with indecision. So many mediums, so many colours. So many options. Some of them even work. Some do not.

I've just redone the 'skin' areas on all the pieces. Flesh tones begone. Not playing anymore. My planche piece has had half the entire paint palette tested on it (it feels like) in terms of colouring. Then I decided it looked pretty good as plain white. But I'd rather have a much smoother finishing texture if I'm going down that road. So I started on another colour idea. Didn't like it. Repainted the beam. Tried out some of my watercolour pencils to see if they'd stick to the paper/paint mix. They do! They give me a lot more control than a paintbrush so that's something to try again. (Derwent Inktense if you fancy a go. When you apply water the colours just explode off the paper.) The 2 colour effect is very nice. It's still a bit too white on the base area though. Needs just a bit more to define the areas. What do you think? Maybe a soft wash of a colour on the figure? Mm, maybe, yes.

So, this afternoon I started doing some photographs of 'finished' work. I say 'finished' because this is when I start wondering if they need some work doing. I did a matching border round one piece which looks quite good. Maybe I should do that with them all. There's...a lot of white. That's decided then. Bit more messing about still needed. Aargh, I want them done!

All this decision making and do overs wears me down. Might help if I didn't do a whole batch of work instead of styling each piece as it's completed. And yes, classic overthinking. I really want to finish the first six pieces, get the final pictures and get set up on Folksy. More messing with shop front and a Stripe account. But once that's done, I've made my first real steps to online selling. I'll just need to edit my old Art Web account which still gets a few regular visits each month.

Tomorrow, I'm back in the office so my art head will get rest for a day or two; then I'll a must-get-done list for the weekend. I want this shop ready to roll!
